Strawberry & Chocolate Stuffed French Toast

- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 1/2 cup diced strawberries
- 2/3 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
- 1 loaf of unsliced bread, preferably brioche or challah
- 6 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Powdered sugar for garnish
In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese and strawberry jam. Mix until combined. Stir in strawberry pieces and morsels. Set aside.
Cut the loaf of bread into 6 thick slices, approximately 1 ½ -2 inches thick. Make an incision on the crust side of each of the pieces of bread, approximately ¾ of the way down the slice. This incision will be the pocket for the filling. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into each of the slices of bread, dividing evenly. Gently close the pockets. Place slices into the refrigerator while you prepare the batter.
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, cinnamon, salt, granulated sugar, vanilla extract and milk. Remove bread slices from refrigerator and place near the stove. Place the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the butter has melted, dip 2 bread slices into batter and place them into skillet. Cook on each side until golden brown, 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and keep warm. Repeat this process with remaining bread slices.
Top with dusting of powdered sugar and syrup if desired prior to serving.
