Step 1

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.

Step 4

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in flour mixture gradually.

Step 5

Halve the dough and separate into two bowls; stir cocoa powder into one. Divide morsels between both bowls and stir.

Step 6

Portion blonde dough into half-tablespoon sized balls. Repeat with cocoa dough.

Step 7

Create a marbled effect by rolling one blonde ball and one cocoa ball together. Repeat with remaining dough. Place onto ungreased baking sheets.

Step 8

Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

BAKING TIP:

If dough is very soft after marbling, place in the refrigerator to firm slightly for 15-30 minutes prior to baking.

MARBLING TIP:

For best marbled effect, pinch balls in half and turn one piece and re-attach to create a more dynamic marble. Repeat with remaining dough balls.
