One sip of this creamy, refreshing drink transports you to the tropics. Mamey sapote is a sweet, salmon-colored tropical fruit native to Mexico and Central America and grown in Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, South America, and Florida, U.S.A. Also known as mamey colorado, it’s high in potassium, vitamins A and C, and dietary fiber. While fresh mamey is not widely available in the United States, frozen puréed mamey is often sold in Latin American markets.
Place mamey sapote, evaporated milk and sugar in blender container; cover. Blend for about 30 seconds until smooth. Taste for some additional sugar maybe needed. Serve in tall glasses.
NOTE:
To make a frothier shake, add some crushed ice to blender.
