Bechamel Sauce (White Sauce)

- This white sauce recipe is a versatile and useful as a base for making cheese sauce or macaroni and cheese from scratch.
NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk 12 oz
NET 12 fl oz (354 mL)
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground white or black pepper
- 1 can (12 fluid ounces) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
- 3/4 cup water
Melt butter in small saucepan. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Gradually add evaporated milk and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes just to a boil. Recipe makes 3 cups.
