DOING OUR PART

LIBBY'S® nurtures pumpkins and planet. Explore the sustainability initiatives we have put in place to support and protect our growers, our fields, and our planet for generations to come.

Generational Farmer Relationships

We have strong relationships with the farmers who supply LIBBY’S® and know them by name. Some have grown our pumpkins for 60 years. We work together to grow and harvest high-quality pumpkins each year.

Regenerative Agriculture

LIBBY’S® Pumpkin farmers in Central Illinois are adopting regenerative agriculture practices like using cover crops, rotating what they plant in fields and optimizing fertilizer application. These techniques can help attract natural pollinators, improve soil health, and reduce emissions.

Pollinator Habitats

We support our LIBBY’S® Pumpkin farmers with increasing pollinator habitats which can help local bees and butterflies flourish.

Responsible Waste Management

Our factory in Morton is a zero waste for disposal facility. Every part of the pumpkin, including stems, skin, rind, and vines, are applied on nearby farmland for fertilizer. The remaining seeds go to a squirrel seed vendor.

Reduced Transportation

All LIBBY’S® pumpkins are grown close to our factory in Morton, Illinois, also known as the “Pumpkin Capital of the World.” On average, they travel less than 25 miles from patch to can, which minimizes the environmental impacts of transportation and helps us support the local economy.

Water Recycling

We have an extensive water recycling process in place at our production facility. Today, we recycle approximately 300,000 gallons of water per day during the pack season and are working to increase that even more.

University & Community Partnerships

We work with local colleges and universities, as well as local non-profit organizations, to help develop the next generation of agricultural experts.
