PREHEAT oven to 325° F. Grease a metal 8-inch-square baking pan and line with parchment.

MELT 1 1/2 cups morsels, sugar and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, stir constantly. Once melted, remove pan from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Let cool for 5 minutes. Transfer to a large mixer bowl.

MIX eggs into chocolate mixture using the paddle attachment; then slowly add the flour and salt. Mix until just combined. Pour batter into prepared baking pan, and spread evenly.

BAKE 18-20 minutes until wooden pick comes out clean. Place on cooling rack and let brownies cool completely.

SCALD heavy cream in small saucepan over medium heat.

POUR warm cream over remaining 1/4 cup morsels in a medium bowl; add remaining 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, and stir together.

SPREAD glaze over pan of brownies; let glaze set before cutting brownies into bars.
