Enjoy and share, a good cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter's day.
COMBINE sugar and cocoa in medium saucepan; stir. Gradually stir in 1/3 cup milk to make a smooth paste; stir in remaining milk.WARM over medium heat, stirring constantly, until hot (do not boil). Remove from heat; stir in vanilla extract. Top with whipped cream or marshmallows, if desired, before serving.

We live on the southeast coast and my children have not seen snow in 4 years. Imagine our fun to wake to 4 inches this morning. I didn't have any hot chocolate mix in the house, but I had Nestle cocoa powder. I looked up the recipe and the kids thought it was the best hot chocolate ever..
We use a bit less sugar when we make it because otherwise it's just too sweet. I also love putting in different flavors than the vanilla extract. One of my favorites is a touch of orange extract :).
Love this recipe! Just the way my mom made it when I was a kid!.
