These chewy, chocolate-filled, chocolate and candy corn topped bars also have nuts in them.
PREHEAT oven to 375° F. Grease 9-inch-square baking pan. COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat sugar, butter and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in egg; gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in 1 1/4 cups morsels and nuts. Spread into prepared baking pan. BAKE for 20 to 23 minutes. Remove pan to wire rack. Sprinkle with remaining morsels. Let stand for 5 minutes or until morsels are shiny; spread evenly. Top with candy corn. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Refrigerate for 5 to 10 minutes or until chocolate is set. Cut into bars.

I just wanted to let you know that this recipe was amazing. I gave them out to the kids that my daughter babysits, she has 4 or 5 that she sits with regularly, so we gave each one a treat bag with 3 or 4 squares in it. The kids loved them, they were a real big hit..
These mud bars are terrific and can be adapted to other seasons by using other types of candy on the top..
This has been my fall back Halloween party treat for the past several years! People just love them. They are a bit on the very sweet side, but they are moist, dense and delicious. In fact, adults tend to pick off the candy corn, because they are too sweet. Not a dry cookie bar at all..
