Indoor S'mores
Who would you bake some love for?
Level: Easy

Unlike traditional campfire s'mores, these can be made ahead of time -- in any weather -- and they aren't nearly as messy! Have some of these ready the next time all the kids will be at your house after school.

  • Prep: 10 min
  • Cooking: 15 min
  • Cooling time: 1 hrs refrigerating
  • Yields: 24 s'mores (2 dozen)
Ingredients
  • 8 cups (13-oz. box) graham cracker cereal
  • 6 cups (10.5-oz. bag) miniature marshmallows, divided
  • 1 1/2 cups (9 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Milk Chocolate Morsels
  • 5 tablespoons butter or margarine, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

GREASE 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Pour cereal into large bowl.

HEAT 5 cups marshmallows, morsels, butter and corn syrup in medium, heavy-duty saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract.

POUR marshmallow mixture over cereal; stir until well coated. Stir in remaining marshmallows. Press mixture into prepared pan. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm. Cut into bars.

MICROWAVE METHOD:
Microwave 5 cups marshmallows, morsels, butter and corn syrup in large, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 2 to 3 1/2 minutes, stirring every minute, until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract. Proceed as above.

Remember to follow baking instructions before consuming.

Delicious either way you make it

I've made this recipe on the stove several times over the years, but finally decided to try the microwave version, since it's one of my favorite bar recipes. The taste was still amazing and the cleanup was a little easier also. I'll continue to make these again and again! Be sure to have enough people around you to eat within three days, though, as it doesn't keep after that. Enjoy!.

Indoor smores make them cry for more!

I brought Indoor Smores to a 4th of July BBQ and they disappeared so quickly, everyone wanted more! They are VERY sweet and gooey but kids and adults couldn't get enough. I made 2 batches, using the optional corn syrup to make the syrup more liquidy, and left them lumpy (as opposed to bar-shaped). I thought they looked more "user- friendly" and "camp-y" that way. I guess it didn't matter how they looked, once people tasted them, they definitely wanted S'MORE!!!.

Totally addctive!

My 16 year old son says these are so good that they are "totally addictive". My mother-in -law also asked for the receipe to make for residents at the care center for a special activity and food day..
