Directions
Sprinkle the yeast into 1 1/2 cups warm water, add salt, sugar, greases and eggs and mix well. Set aside. Put 4 cups of flour into a large mixing bowl and make a well to add the liquids to it and then mix well. In a separate bowl add the remaining two cups of flour and the 1 cup of milk and mix well, add this to the other bowl of dough and mix it all up together very well. Pour out onto your table (it will be gooey at first) and knead the dough until it is easy to handle, sprinkle flour onto the dough if you need to and work it into the dough. Form a dough ball and then put the dough ball into a greased metal pan and cover with lid and put under light on top of the stove. Let set until doubled in size. Punch the dough back down and knead for a few minutes and then shape as desired. We braided the dough and formed the basket with 3 parts of the dough, the last part we used to make the rolls to go into the basket. If you want to make the basket taller you have to use toothpicks to hold the sides up just be sure to take them out as you begin to serve the basket to eat. Bake the bread at 400 degress until bread is desired color and brush bread with butter when it comes out of the oven.
