2 pounds ground beef
3 Tablespoons flour
1 can Carnation evaporated milk
1 can of water (12 ounces)
salt and black pepper
3 cups flour
2 Tablespoons baking powder
1 Teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons grease
1/2 cup water ( may need just a little more)
4 Boiled Potatoes
2 Tablespoons of butter (momma would add mayonaise if we were out of butter)
1/4 cup milk (more or less)
salt and pepper to taste
Cook meat in large skillet and drain most of the grease off, add the flour,salt, pepper and stir up then quickly add 1 can evaporated milk and 1 can of water and stir, turn heat down to simmer and cook til desired thickness. If it gets too thick just add a little water to it.
MIx flour and salt and baking powder into a bowl,add grease and water and mix well (using your hands is easier) and then roll out on table, cut out with a circle cutter such as an old tomatoe sauce can with holes punched in the lid or cut both ends out of the can. Place biscuits into a greased baking pan, brush the tops with butter and bake in hot oven at about 400 degrees until desired brownness.
Take the boiled potatoes and mash them up adding salt, pepper, milk and butter. Use just enough milk to make them smooth or else you will end up with potatoe soup.
Serve the biscuits hot and split open with the hamburger meat and gravy (S-O-S) on top of the bread. You can also top the potatoes with the S-O-S too. We also had this with fried potatoes too. It is still a favorite with us.
