2 sticks of butter, 8 egg yokes (save the egg whites for your cake),2 cups of light brown sugar,1/4 cup of carnation evaporated milk,1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup of pecans chopped up finely.
In large saucepan mix together the butter, egg yolks, milk and brown sugar, stiring until well mixed, put on medium heat and stir constantly to prevent scorching until it bubbles and thickens (about 6 - 10 minutes) remove pan from the stove and stir in the vanilla extract and pecans. It will have to cool for a short while, DO NOT OVER COOK OR YOU WILL HAVE PRALINE CANDY. Use in the center of your cake or use to put in the middle of your torted cake. Especially good with butter pecan cake (from box mix or from scratch).
Torte is where you put your icing around the outside layer edge of your cake and put the filling on the inside. Repeat each layer then frost the top layer with your icing.
