Very moist bread. I have added small pieces of apple in place of the raisins or dates. Either way is very good.

Ingredients

1/2 c. shorteing or margarine
1 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda mixed with 1 c. warm applesauce
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 c. raisins or dates
1/2 c. nuts

Directions

Mix all ingredients together. Pour batter into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 for one hour and 15 minutes.

Not a NESTLÉ®-tested recipe.
