Ingredients
6 tablespoons unsalted butter divided use
4 medium granny smith apples peeled, and sliced 1/4 inch thick about 8 cups
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
pinch of salt to taste
1/2 cup apple juice
1 1/2 cups butter cookie crumbs
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
Directions
Heat oven to 350 coat the baking dish with 1 tablespoons butter.
In a large bowl toss apple slices with the sugar , cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and apple juice until evenly coated . Combine the cookie crumbs and brown sugar in a small mixing bowl stir until evenly coated. Cut remaining butter into 1/4 inch pieces and set aside until needed.
Sprinkle half the remaining crumb mixture over the apples dot with half the butter. Add rest of the apples and juice. top with remaining crumbs.
Dot with butter.
Place in preheated oven bake until the juices are
bubbly. the apples are tender and the crumbs are golden brown . about 50 minutes.
Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes . serve warm . makes 4 servings.
