Buttermilk pie

Buttermilk pie

A variation on custard pie with buttermilk for extra flavor.

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter softened
3 large eggs
3 rounded tablespoons all purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350.
Combine sugar and butter in a large bowl . Beat with a electric mixer set at high speed until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs and flour one third at a time to the sugar mixture , beating well after each addition. Stir in the buttermilk , vanilla, and nutmeg into the egg mixture . Spoon into the pie shell Bake until set. about 45 to 50 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. Serve at room temp.

Serves 6 to 8 prep time 7 minutes baking time 45 to 50 minutes
