PEANUT APPLE CRISP

Autumn is nearly here.With it comes the apple season. And that means lower prices on apples. Also cooler temperatures, when baking's warming of the home, is welcome. The smell of apples & cinnamon, baking in your home will make family & guests feel welcome too. Take advantage of a seasonal bounty w/ this nutritous & delicious treat, for dessert,YES; but also for breakfast & snacks.

Ingredients

8 servings
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled & thinly sliced(about 6 Cups)
2Tbs + 1/4C sugar
1/2tsp ground cinnamon
2TBS water
1/2C uncooked QUICK oats
1/4C AP flour
3TBS creamy or super chunk peanut butter
3TBS buttery (flavored) margarine, cut into small pieces
OPTIONAL:4Cups vanilla (bean) ice cream( for topping @ serving time)

Directions

1-Preheat oven to 425'
Lightly grease(cooking spray OK) 8"x8" baking dish

2-In baking dish; toss apples,2TBS sugar& cinnamon.
Sprinkle w/ (2TBS) water

3-In medium bowl, combine oats, flour& remaining (1/4C) sugar
With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in PB & margarine until mixture is the size of small
peas
Evenly sprinkle these crumbs over apples.
Cover w/ foil & bake 20 minutes.
Uncover & bake another 20 minutes till apples are tender & topping is golden & crisp
Serve warm or at room temperature w/ a generous scoop of ice cream
