1/2 cup butter softened (margarine may be used)
1/2 cup all vegetable shortening softened
1 cup light or dark brown sugar packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda (fresh)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups rolled oats, instant or regular
1 cup raisins or currants
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees before you start to mix cookies up.
In a large mixer bowl, cream together butter or margarine. Add brown and white sugar, cream until fluffy. add eggs and vanilla beat until well blended.
Combine flour baking, cinnamon, cloves and salt together. Pour into creamed mixture. Dro[p by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes till golden brown. Do not bake too long. Let cool on wire rack on cookie sheet for 2 minutes before trying to remove. Store in a plastic container with a lid.
