These are the best raised donuts glazed or frosted.

1 pkg yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup milk, scalded
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup mashed potatoes
2 eggs beaten
5-6 cups flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Combine the milk, shortening, salt and sugar.
Cool to luke warm. Stir in the yeast, potatoes and eggs. Gradually add enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn out on to a floured board and knead until smooth. Place in lightly greased bowl and turn to grease the top. Cover and let rise 60-90 minutes in a warm place.
Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a 3" donut cutter. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
Heat oil to 375. Fry until brown on one side and turn to brown other side. Drain on paper towel. Glaze with the following while hot.
3 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla

Not a NESTLÉ®-tested recipe.
