Cream the butter gradually adding the sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Sift the dry ingredients together and add alternately with the yogurt or buttermilk. Grind the pears in a blender or food processor. Add the pears and vanilla to the batter, mix well.
Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
