Vanilla hearts

Vanilla hearts

this heart shaped cookie can be iced with pink frosting and sprinkled with candy sprinkles.


2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup butter cut into small pieces
1/2 cup superfine sugar
1 tsp vanilla
superfine sugar (for dusting)
1 can white frosting
Candy sprinkles


Lightly grease a cookie sheet with butter. Sift flour into a large mixing bowl and rub in the butter with fingers until mixture is well combined and resembles fine bread crumbs. Stir in superfine sugar and vanilla
and bring mixture together to make a firm dough. On a lightly floured
kitchen surface , roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 inch . Stamp out 12 heart shapes with a heart-shaped cookie cutter measureing about 2 inches across and 1 inch deep. Arrange the hearts on the prepared cookie sheet , Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 for 15-20 minutes , until the hearts are a golden brown. Transfer the hearts to a wire rack . Let the cookies cool slightly before serving.
Spread hearts with frosting and sprinkle with candy sprinkles.
or dust with sugar.
