This is a great take along for a snack or lunch.

1 lb beef cubes or hamburger
1 med onion, diced
4 med potatoes, cubed
4 carrots, thinly sliced
1 rutabaga, diced
salt and pepper to taste
3/4 tsp thyme leaves, crushed
1/4 cup water
pastry crust of your choice

Saute meat and onion, cook for 1 minute. Add vegetables and spices with the 1/4 cup water. Simmer until tender. Cool slightly. Make a 9 inch circle of the crust. Place 1/4th of the meat mixture in the center of the pie crust. Moisten edges with milk, fold in half and seal. Repeat with the other 3 pasties. Place 2 in each pie pan. Bake at 400 for 1 hour or until golden brown.
