From the Historical Mackinac Island Cookbook, published by the Mackinac Island Medical Center, Mackinac Island, MI. I am posting this recipe in response to the many requests by chefs who wanted a recipe in which water was listed as one of the ingredients.

1-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup soft butter or shortening
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon water
2 eggs
2 cups quick cooking oats
6 ounce package Nestle chocolate morsels

Combine butter, sugars, vanilla, water and eggs and beat until smooth. Add remaining ingredients to blend well. Preheat oven to 375 degrees, while dropping dough by teaspoons on a greased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes, before removing to a rack to cool.

Not a NESTLÉ®-tested recipe.
