Pumpkin Turnovers

Pumpkin Turnovers

From an old Nestle Recipe Book, don't know why this isn't on the main part of this site. Wonderful warm feeling recipe.

Ingredients

PASTRY:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbls granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter/margarine, melted
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg

FILLING:
1 3/4 cup(15 oz can)Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1/2 cup raisins
1 Tbls lemon juice
1 Tbls water
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1 large egg,lightly beaten

Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions

FOR PASTRY:
COMBINE flour, granulated sugar, salt & cinnamon in medium bowl. Beat butter, milk and egg in small bowl until combined. Add to flour mixture; mix WELL. Form into ball. Cover; refrigerate for 1 hour.

FOR FILLING:
COMBINE pumpkin and brown sugar in medium bowl. Add pecans, raisins, lemon juice, water, cinnamon and cloves; mix WELL.

DIVIDE pastry into 12 to 14 portions. On lightly floured board, roll each portion into 6-inch circle. Place scant 1/4 cup filling on each circle. Moisten edges with water; fold in half, pressing edges with fork to seal. Scallop sealed edges by indenting with the handle of fork at 3/4 inch intervals. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Brush egg over tops of turnovers. Sprinkle with Cinnamon Sugar Mixture.

BAKE in preheated 400F oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or cool on wire rack. Makes 12 to 14 turnovers.
