Using a paper towel, spread butter or margarine on the bottom and sides of a 9 x 9 inch pan or glass dish.
Evenly, spread chopped pecans in the pan ore dish. Place sugar and butter in a heavy, medium saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil over medium heat for 7 minutes.
Immediately pour and spread mixture evenly over nuts in pan.
Sprinkle chocolate morsels over hot mixture. Place baking sheet over top so that chips will melt. After about 1 minute, spread chips over toffee. While candy is hot, cut into squares. Chill till firm or package in an airtight container as a gift.
