Popcorn Balls

The children or grandchildren can help make these popcorn balls, but it is best for Mom or Grandma to cook the ingredients. My Mom used to make these for us at home. They were great fall and winter treats. I always liked buttering my hands and help make them them into balls.

Ingredients

1 cup white sugar
1 cup white corn syrup
1 teaspon cream of tartar
1 Tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon soda
4 quarts popped pop corn

Directions

Cook together sugar, corn syrup and cream of tartar in a heavy saucepan till it dorms a soft ball. Beat in 1 Tablespoon butter and 1/4 teaspoon soda, this will foam up. Pour over 4 quarts apopped pop corn. Let cool for a few minutes, then butter hands and form into balls, when done forming all balls, wrap in waxed paper and twist ends so they will not get stale.
