A favorite recipe of mine from" just married" days; when trying to juggle mealtime & fulltime employment. I was new to both (just graduated) & appreciated the guarantee of an economical & tastey dinner for 3-4. And only a few pans to cleanup( after dinner) These days it will serve up to 6 (older folks = smalller appetites) w/ a really good dessert: any Nestle's cookie (dough), freshly baked, and/or fresh fruit.

Ingredients

one # "Swiss" steak
one (small-medium) onion(peeled, halved & sliced 1/4")
one (8oz) can tomato sauce
= amount(1can) water
3-4TBS AP flour
Salt, pepper& paprika to taste[*** use less the first time & more each time after that till you determine the amount of seasonings that please you
1-2TBS butter or vegetable oil, as desired

Directions

mix flour,*** salt &pepper w/ paprika on a sheet of waxed paper.
Coat both sides of steak in flour mixture & reserve.
Fry/saute sliced onion in butter or oil, till aromatic & golden.
Push onion to sides of pan & add meat to center of pan.
Brown meat on both sides.
Add tomato sauce & water.
Scrape bottom of pan( especially under meat) to loosen drippings.
Cover & simmer about 40 minutes, till done.
Serve w/ cooked rice, noodles or mashed potatoes & your choice of vegetable(s)
