Aunt Erma's Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

This recipe was hand written by my Aunt Erma on the inside cover of a cookbook which printed in 1933. Aunt Erma was an excellent baker!

2 2/4 cups flour
2 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla

Sift flour before measuring. Add baking powder and sift again. Cream shortening thoroughly; add sugar slowly and cream with shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well; add vanilla. Add flour and blend well. Chill for 15 minutes. Roll 1/8 inch thick on slightly floured surface. Cut with 3 1/2 inch floured cutter and sprinkle with sugar. Bake on un-greased baking sheet at 400 degrees F. 10 to 12 minutes.

Not a NESTLÉ®-tested recipe.
