serves 6,makes about 6 1/2 cups low calorie &low fat recipe PASSED ON TO ME BY MY SISTER

Ingredients

3 LARGE POTATOES ( 1 1/2 POUNDS)
1 LARGE BUNCH SWISS CHARD,(1 1/2 POUNDS)
2 1/2 TEASPOON UNSALTED BUTTER
8 CUPS BOILING WATER

Directions

PEEL & DICE THE POTATOES INTO 1/2 INCH SLICES.ADD THEM TO 8CUPS OF BOILING WATER IN A POT.LOWER HEAT TO MEDIUM -HIGH & COOK, COVERED FOR 20MTS.
WASH THE SWISS CHARD.TEAR LEAVES INTO SMALL PIECES.CUT OFF THE BOTTOM 3 INCHES OF STEMS & RESERVE.ADD THE LEAVES TO THE POTATOES& COOK FOR 2OMTS.POUR 3CUPS COOKING LIQUID FROM THE MIXTURE THROUGH COLANDER .SET ASIDE.PUT POTATOES,CHARD & REMAINING LIQUID IN BOWL OF A FOOD PROCESSOR.PROCESS UNTIL SMOOTH.ADD BUTTER & PROCESS FOR SEVERAL MINUTES,UNTIL SMOOTH.RETURN TO POT.SLOWLY ADD UPTO 3CUPS OF RESERVED BROTH,STIRRING TO MAKE A SMOOTH,THICK CREAMY CONSISTENCY.SEASON TO TASTE WITH SALT & PEEPPER POWDER.COOK ON MEDUM HEAT STIRING WELL.BLANCH RESERVED CHARD STEMS IN A SMALL AMOUNT OF BOILING SALTED WATER UNTIL TENDER,ABOUT 5MTS.CUTINTO FINE PIECES & SCATTER OVER EACH SERVING OF SOUP.SERVE HOT.
