I remeber when my mom made us a mincemeat pie for the Christmas hoildays & it was very delious with ice cream.


1-1/2 lbs. beef 1-1/2 lbs. pork
1/2 lb. citron 2 lbs. seedless raisins
2 qt. chopped apples 1 c.olasses
2 lbs.currants 2 tsp. ground cloves
2 lbs. sugar 3 tsp. cinnamon
1 lb brwon sugar 3 tsp. ginger
2 oranges 2 lemons 1 c. cider
1 tsp/ nutmeg


In a large stock pot cook beef,pork and set aside until tender.
Mince or grind through a food grinder.
In a saucepan cook raisins and currets until tender in water to cover.
Finely chop the oranges, lemons,citron and apples or grind through a food grinder.
In a large saucepan combine the meat, raisins andcurrents,remaining ingredients.
Simmmer together in water to cover for 12 mins.
Put into sterile jars and seal while hot.
To make pies, fill an ubaked pie shell with about 3 c.of mincemeat.
Cover with top crust.
Bake in a 425 degrees F. oven for 15 mins.
Reduce the temp.to 375 degrees and continue to bake for 35 mins. Makes 7 qt, enough for about 9 pies.
