Boston Tea Ladies Reception Cake

A delightfully,very easy to make, moist cake made during the early 1900's by the maids of ladies of quality


4T butter
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsp. Baking powder
scant salt
½ cup milk
2 cups blueberries, rinsed and drained

Crumbe top:
½ cup sugar
½ cup four
½ tsp. Cinnamon
4 T butter


Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg, mix well.
In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt.
Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to large mixture.
Add blueberries.
Place in greased 8 or 9 inch square pan.

Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut butter into mixture. Sprinkle over batter. Cook at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
