my dad used to make these special treats the morning of each holiday


i stick butter,3/1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups yogurt or milk
1 egg, beaten
1 cup currants or raisins


Preheat oven to 450. Butter two sheets with butter. Sift flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Add butter, using fingertips to combine untilmix takes on texture of fine meal. Add yogurt and stir until flour is just mosit and dough begins to stick together. Add raisins or currantws.Take dough into a ball and knead lightly. Place dough on floured table and roll with rolling pin about 3/4 inch thinck. Cut cutter into lfour and cut out scones as close to one another. Place on prepared baking sheets, with space in between. Let stand about 10 minutes. Brush tops with egg and bake until goldne brown, 10 min. Remove to cool.
