Peanut Butter Fudge

My husbands favorite treat is old fashioned "real" peanut butter fudge like Grandma used to make. No one in the family had her recipe. We searched for years for a recipe that came close, to no avail. We finally found it in her things, after she passed away....it was written in "shorthand" and a bit hard to understand. I hope I added enough detail to make it easier for everyone to understand! This is the "real deal" according to my husband!

Ingredients

3 cups sugar
1 cup milk
3 Tablespoons butter
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
6 Tablespoons peanut butter

Directions

Combine sugar, milk and butter in a 2 quart saucepan. Cook til it comes to soft ball stage (238 F) on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add salt, vanilla and butter; beat well. pour into buttered 8 inch square pan. Cool; cut into squares.
