In a bowl, blend flour, salt, baking powder and shortening until it resemble fine meal.
Add warm water, a little a time, to flour mixture. Toss until liquid is incoorporated. You may need a little more or less water.
Form dough into a ball and kneed on a floured surface. Knead dough until it is smooth and elastic.
Divide into 12 small balls, about golf ball size. Cover dough and let it rest for at least 30 min.
Roll each ball of dough on a floured surface to make make 6 or 7 inch sized tortillas. Tortillas need to be thin.
Place on a pre heated cast iron skillet. Cook a few seconds on each side, until medium golden.
Keep warm in a towel until ready to serve. Store cooled tortillas in a plastic bag.
