Eating fruits and veggies that are canned, frozen, fresh, dried or 100% juice all count! They all provide valuable nutrients and help you stay healthy.

Pumpkin
One of our favorite ways to use CANNED PUMPKIN: Freeze pumpkin in ice cube trays. Remove and store in a freezer bag once frozen. Add a cube or three to boost flavor and nutrients:

  • Canned or homemade soups
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Casseroles

Additional tips for canned pumpkin:

  • Replace some of the oil in baked goods to reduce fat without sacrificing moisture or flavor (½ cup pumpkin replaces ½ cup oil).
  • Add canned pumpkin to muffin, scone and bread batters.
  • Heat pumpkin with cinnamon or nutmeg and a drizzle of maple syrup for a great side dish.
  • Let your kids make their own dessert- pumpkin pudding! Add canned pumpkin and some pumpkin pie spice to instant vanilla pudding for a quick, kid-friendly dessert.
  • Add canned pumpkin to waffle or pancake batter for flavor and nutrition!
