Chunky Pecan Pie Bars

If you like pecan pie you'll love these pecan pie bars with chocolate!


  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups (11.5-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunks
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, coarsely chopped


PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

flour, butter and brown sugar in small mixer bowl until crumbly. Press into prepared baking pan.

BAKE for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

eggs, corn syrup, granulated sugar, butter and vanilla extract in medium bowl with wire whisk. Stir in chunks and nuts. Pour evenly over baked crust.

BAKE for 25 to 30 minutes or until set. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

As a person who's not fond of pecan pie, I didn't anticipate liking these (made them for family), but I loved them. Maybe it's the chocolate or the way it gets nice and crunchy on the edges, but they tasted fantastic and the texture was terrific. The edge ones were nice and chewy and the center ones were a little softer, more like traditional pecan pie. The addition of chocolate chunks made it a nice variation from just all corn syrup. They were also very, very easy to make.

As always i'm in charge of desserts for Thanksgiving. This year I wanted to try Pecan Pie and I stumbled across this recipe. I made it today as a "test". My husband and I each had one, I took several to the neighbors and hub will take the rest to work tomorrow. OH MY GOSH HOW OOEY GOOEY YUMMY!!!!! I didn't change a thing..oh and I used a glass dish and 'greased' it by using the residue from the melted butter - mine didn't stick to the dish.
