A tried and true recipe
by K. Kate , Grafton on Mar. 2013
This has always been my go-to recipe for chocolate chip cookies. I change the recipe by using 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, and 2 tsp of homemade pure vanilla. I also use a mixture of milk, semi-sweet, and dark chocolate chips. Most of the time I omits the nuts, but when I use them it's either pecans or walnuts.
Our "tradition"
by R. Rene , United States on Dec. 2011
My son is 30 years old and all he wanted for Christmas was for me to bake and ship him these cookies. While this is hands down the best recipe, I made a tiny variation this year: half semi-sweet and half dark chocolate chips and 2 tsp of vanilla. Incredible!

Stood the test of time!!
by L. L , Newbury Park, CA on Dec. 2010
This great recipe has certainly stood the test of time. It also works as a great springboard for testing variations. I really like to substitute all brown sugar for a slightly chewier cookie. Also to Stacy G. from , KY, try adding an additional 1/4 Tsp baking soda and make sure that the baking soda has been kept sealed so that it is fresh. This should help get the rise back in your cookies. Good luck!!
Basic recipe
by P. Pamela , Dallas, TX on Dec. 2010
I have used this basic recipe for years. I have made 2 small modifications: 1) Decrease sugar to 1/2 cup and increase brown sugar to 1 cup; 2) Increase vanilla to 2 teaspoons. When I can find them, I substitute Ghiardella milk chocolate chips. People at my office and my family beg me to make them year-round!

These cookies are the best. For a summertime (or anytime) treat - take 2 cookies and put ice cream in the center - Ice Cream Sandwich. You can not beat it.
