MELT 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter in medium saucepan. Pour into prepared jelly-roll pan. Arrange crackers over butter, breaking crackers to fit empty spaces.

family tradition

This toffee bar has been a Christmas treat in my family as long as I can remember. My grandmother always made them. She used graham crackers for the crust and she always put those little tiny round multicolored cupcake sprinkles over the walnuts. Since her passing last year I have taken over making these bars, and they are so easy and still a hit!

I made this recipe for the first time this holiday season. I was requested to make it a second time before the season was over! Really delicious! Cut with a pizza wheel.....makes it a lot easier.

I use graham crackers instead of soda. I'm adding this to all my Christmas goody tins this year.

Easy, versatile, and always a hit

by A. Amy , Yonkers, NY on Nov. 2009

As so many have said, this is delicious, easy to make, and very popular. It's also versatile. I've substituted matzoh for the crackers and it works great, but for an extra-rich treat, try it with graham crackers and pecans, with a little sprinkle of fleur de sel if you're feelin' fancy.
