This was really YUMMY and very easy to make. I would recommend, and would make it again.

My turning-6-yr-old asked for a chocolate cake for his birthday party and I found this one randomly. I was curious about adding lemon juice or vinager to it. I topped it with a ganache icing at my brother-in-law's suggestion and it was a huge hit! Hardly any cake leftover! My older son loved it so much, he begged me to make it again for his Boy Scout Blue and Gold ceremony this month! I think this will become a family tradition.

The name says it all

This truly has become my favorite chocolate cake recipe. I have made it many times and it is always a big hit. It's easy to do and lends itself to your own creativity for filling and decorating. It bakes to the most level layers (no doming) as long as you are careful about oven temperature. Make sure eggs and butter are at room temperature and do not over bake. When frosted with the Chocolate Lover's Frosting it is guaranteed to satisfy all your chocoholics and have them asking for more.

loved it.

Not only was this cake flavorful, but the lemon juice was an enhancing "secret" ingredient that added depth to the cake! With the addition of ice cream for serving...it became the perfect dessert!

This is the best "from scratch" chocolate cake that I've tried. Chocolate cake is my mom's favorite, and she loved it. It's great with buttercream frosting.
