Description

Like your favorite candies, this tart combines the flavors of deep, rich chocolate with luscious, sweet raspberry.

Ingredients

  • CRUST
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup ground walnuts
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/3 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Baking Cocoa
  • FILLING
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
  • 2 tablespoons seedless raspberry jam
  • Sweetened whipped cream (optional)
  • Fresh raspberries (optional)

Directions

FOR CRUST:
PREHEAT
oven to 350° F.

BEAT flour, powdered sugar, nuts, butter and cocoa in large mixer bowl until soft dough forms. Press dough onto bottom and up side of ungreased 9- or 9 1/2-inch fluted tart pan with removable bottom or 9-inch pie plate.

BAKE for 12 to 14 minutes or until puffed. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

FOR FILLING:
BRING
cream and granulated sugar in medium saucepan just to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in morsels and jam; let stand for 5 minutes. Whisk until smooth. Transfer to small mixer bowl. Cover; refrigerate for 45 to 60 minutes or until mixture is cooled and slightly thickened.

BEAT for 20 to 30 seconds or just until color lightens slightly. Spoon into crust. Refrigerate until firm. Remove side of pan; garnish with whipped cream and raspberries.

Very Good and Rich

This was excellent. Have made it twice now, but it definitely needs a bit more butter in the crust. Try 8 T. instead of the recommended 6 T. butter. Otherwise some of the crust is just plain powder. This will be a keeper. Will be a great treat for a special occasion.

truly a special dessert

by P. Patti , Franklin, MI on Feb. 2009

This is truly a delicious dessert. The crust is a blend of chocolate and walnuts and provides a crisp texture. The filling is smooth and not too rich with an intense chocolate flavor. The chocolate is nicely enhanced when served with fresh raspberries or strawberries. This is a perfect dessert for a special occassion.

Absolutely wonderful dessert for a bridal shower; both delicious and attractive! Garnered all the ohs and ahs. There are not too many women who do not love chocolate, whipped cream and raspberries! Thank you for the awesome idea.

This is an excellent recipe in every way. The crust is easy to handle and the chocolate filling is lovely. I garnished with fresh raspberries and blueberries slightly glazed with warm raspberry preserves. It was very, very popular. If you want a recipe that really impresses, this is the one!

This recipe was so delicious and SO rich. I made it for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day, since he loves raspberries, and we both loved it. I used a premade crust, and it worked great. I will definitely make this again for any occasion.

Amazingly good and easy

by L. Laura , Galveston, TX on Feb. 2005

My friend and I made these truffles. How much easier can you get than this. We added a little bit more extract then called for and we used both the Vanilla and Almond. I'm trying cinnamon next time. These were a hit!!!
