  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels, divided
  • 1/2 cup sour cream, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE House Blend 100% Pure Instant Coffee Granules
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

PREHEAT oven to 350º F. Grease 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

MICROWAVE 1 cup morsels in small, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Cool to room temperature. Beat melted chocolate, sour cream, vegetable oil and eggs in large mixer bowl. Beat in sugar, flour, baking soda and salt.

DISSOLVE coffee granules in water; gradually beat into batter. Pour into prepared baking pan.

BAKE in oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

SPRINKLE remaining morsels and nuts over warm cake. Cool completely in pan.

Crowd Pleaser

I love to bake! Made this cake for one of my co-workers. She was nice enough to share with the rest of our group. They all loved it. I was concerned that the nuts were not anchored to the cake. I,m baking it now. This time I'm adding the nuts to the cake 10 minutes before the cake is done. Then I will add the chips when the cake is done. A very tasty and moist cake.

didn't bake as pretty as the picture

The cake is very moist, but mine didn't bake up nearly as high as the photo - or I should say, it quickly deflated after removing it from the oven. I also had to cook it about 10 minutes longer than the recipe stated.

I made this for my husband's birthday cake and everyone loved it. It needed to bake it about 7 minutes longer than the longest time stated. It was a big hit.

The cake was very moist and chocolatey. The coffee flavor was very subtle in the ones that I made. I brought the cake to work and received many compliments for it - I'd definitely bake it again. It's a good recipe for chocolate lovers.

Marvelous Cake!!!

This is delicious and looks good. I've made it several times already. Once, I had some leftover peanut butter morsels, so I put those on top as well and it even looked and tasted better. It also makes a difference if you toast the nuts before you sprinkle them on top.

A Chocolate Lover's Cake

I love this bittersweet cake. I made it for some dinner guests and it was a big hit. They had a big meal already and didn't plan on eating a lot of dessert. But, they ended up asking for seconds.
