Description

Butterfinger Crumb Cake is moist and rich and topped with chopped up Butterfinger candy bars as an added bonus.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 (2.1-oz.) NESTLÉ BUTTERFINGER Candy Bar, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease 8-inch-square baking pan.

COMBINE flour, brown sugar and granulated sugar in a medium bowl; cut in butter with a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Transfer ½ cup flour mixture to a medium bowl; stir in Butterfinger pieces.

STIR baking soda and salt into remaining flour mixture. Combine milk, yogurt, egg and vanilla extract in a small bowl until blended. Add to flour mixture; stir just until blended. Pour into prepared pan; sprinkle evenly with Butterfinger mixture.

BAKE for 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly in pan on a wire rack. Serve warm.

This cake was definitely delicious - not dry at all. I did increase the yogurt by maybe a quarter of a cup. I also made buttercream frosting for the top and sprinkled another crushed Butterfinger on top. It was a hit!

A little Dry

The best part of this cake by far was the topping. The actual cake was a little dry and didn't have much flavor to it. I will probably not make this again but might try to incorporate the butterfinger idea in another cake.

This cake was easy to make. I sprinkled about half of the topping on the cake and gently swirled throughout the cake. Then sprinkled the remaining on top. Very delicious.

I made this cake for a cousins lucheon we have once a month. It was very easy to make and the house smelled great from the cake. It was a big hit, as a matter of fact they all wanted to skip lunch and just have dessert.

I made this cake for my sister. It was a luncheon at her work and the response was amazing. People just were drawn to it and the taste was excellent what I am told. I did not get a chance to taste it but the response was great at the end of the luncheon there was nothing left of the cake, so I definitely will be making it very soon for my family.
