Description

In this Creamy Fruit Smoothie, dry milk adds texture and protein without fat or a lot of calories. Try this easy concoction with your favorite fruit: strawberries, blackberries, bananas, kiwifruit, peaches or cherries, for example. A healthy alternative to the traditional milk shake.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fruit, fresh, unsweetened frozen or canned (drained)
  • 1 1/3 cups (3.2-ounce envelope) dry NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Instant Nonfat Dry Milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

PLACE fruit, dry milk, water, ice, sugar and vanilla extract in blender; cover. Blend until smooth.

NOTE: For a tropical taste sensation, use a mixture of mango, papaya and pineapple.

I made a smaller version of this using canned mango, frozen raspberries and pineapple-orange juice instead of the water and half the sugar. I make a lot of smoothies, but this one gets more mmmmmmmmmms! And it doesn't have the powerded milk taste! Just very creamy and delicious!

My kids loved this smoothie alot. I used a half a cup of juice instead of water. It comnes out great.

Since I've found this recipe I've made strawberry smoothies. My adult daughter loves yogurt and yogurt drinks. This is so much better & healthier not to mention the irresistable taste & flavor you get. You also get to add ingredients specifically to your liking! Thanks!!

This is terrific! And, always to better an already good thing, my husband and I experimented by adding vanilla yogurt, adding more ice and eliminating the vanilla extract. The result was a super creamy and fruity smoothie. We added more fruit, too. It just got better and better. The ultimate YUMMMMMMM!

This recipe wasn't as refreshing as I had hoped it would be. I think it could have had more ice cubes, to help make it colder and more refreshing. I also would have used maybe only a cup of the dry milk. I used fresh cherries and that was a nice choice.
