Chocolate Buttercream Frosting is a velvety soft chocolate frosting and is finger-licking good, and perfect to frost your cookies, cakes or cupcakes.

  • 4 packets (1 oz. each) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® CHOCO BAKE® Pre-Melted Unsweetened Chocolate Flavor
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons milk, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

MICROWAVE Choco Bake and butter in uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 30 seconds; stir. If necessary, microwave at additional 5- to 10-second intervals, stirring just until butter is melted.

TRANSFER mixture to small mixer bowl; cool to room temperature.

BEAT sugar, 4 tablespoons milk, vanilla extract and salt into chocolate mixture just until spreading consistency. Up to 2 tablespoons milk can be added for a creamier frosting.

Choco Bake and butter in small, heavy saucepan over lowest possible heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat. Transfer to small mixer bowl; cool to room temperature. Proceed as above.

This yummy frosting is really easy to make. Tastes great on homemade cinnamon rolls. Some may not think chocolate buttercream frosting on cinnamon rolls would taste good, but give it a try. I used to like dipping my cinnamon rolls in hot cocoa as a kid, so I already knew chocolate and cinnamon were a great combination of flavors.

If you like sweet and you love chocolate then this recipe is for you. I added a homemade german chocolate cake and you have perfection to a chocojunky like me. I dont always lick the spoon but this one left me doing just that. easy to follow instructions, basic ingredients, and no prerequisites for a chef's credentials to make this! A+++

Butter extract and 1 more stick of butter, for this frosting will do well. What makes a cake is the frosting .
