Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup ground pecans
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups (11.5-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Milk Chocolate Morsels
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Directions

PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE flour, ground pecans, baking powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Beat butter and vegetable shortening in large mixer bowl on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla extract; beat until well combined. Gradually beat in as much flour mixture as possible. Stir in remaining flour mixture, morsels and nuts. (Recipe may be made ahead up to this point. If desired, cover and refrigerate dough for 4 hours or up to 3 days.) Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Best ever!

These are really the best cookies I have ever made. The addition of ground pecans makes for a wonderful texture, and the balance of shortening with butter makes it flavorful and it rises nicely. It's been my go-to recipe for quite a while!

Not my cup of tea

The cookies were tasty, but not exactly what I like. The cookies were hard. My kids liked the flavor but did not like that they were hard also. I think next time a box of vanilla pudding should be added to soften it up.

Gourmet = Shortening Taste?

I thought these cookies tasted too much like the 1/2 cup of shortening required in the recipe. If I were to do this again, I think I would reduce that amount.

Wonderful Chocolate Chip Cookies

I've loved chocolate chip cookies and baked them for years. These are the best I've ever come across. They are moist and have a wonderful flavor from the addition of the ground pecans. My grandkids don't normally like nuts in their cookies but they devour these. Will make these again. They don't last long around our house. You won't be disappointed if you try them.
