Irresistible Brownies

Irresistible Brownies are delicious and easy to make. This is one of our "desert-safe" recipes to send to your loved one overseas. This recipe has been tested in our kitchen and does meet Middle East guidelines, as well as U.S. Postal Service mailing regulations.


  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Baking Cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter-flavored vegetable shortening
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Premier White Morsels


PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

COMBINE flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in small bowl. Beat shortening, sugar and eggs in large mixer bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels. Pour into prepared baking pan.

BAKE for 25 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares.

I had made these brownies for my Fiance and his whole unit who are currently deployed. They came out AMAZING, and his whole unit is demanding more already! All I did to seal them was I filled up the gallon size zip lock bags half way, used a straw to suck all the air out of the bags, then sealed. They made it there as fresh as they did when I made them :) hope everyone enjoys this recipe, i know we did!

Amazing doesn't cut it

These are the best brownies I have ever eaten in my entire life. I make them frequently for a deployed loved one, but they usually don't end up with all of the brownies that were baked because we can't stop eating them as we're wrapping them up. I'd give this 100 stars if I could.

This is so wonderful. Recipes that have only white sugar. My husband is a diabetic and shouldn't have sweets but I can substitute Splenda for white sugar and he can enjoy. Thank you.

I used Douch Process Cocoa and Substituted Smart Balance Butter substitute (Cuts Fat, Hydrogenated Oils, and Cholesterol) instead of the shortening. Deep, Dark and Delicious! Best home-made brownies we ever had! Hard to stop at just one portion...
