I have been making this recipe for many many years. Love to serve it with neapolitan ice cream. Its a real crowd pleaser. Adults love it as much as kids.

Beautiful AND delicious!

by D. DEBORAH , Bedminster, NJ on Jun. 2008

I made this for a friend's "Italian Night" party (okay, so it's not an italian cake, but the Neapolitan part of it worked for the theme!). Not difficult to make at all, and turned out delicious! It was a big hit because it was so pretty. Mine did not come out as perfect as the picture, but still a show stopper nevertheless. I actually made this cake twice (once for Father's Day) and the first time I just sprinkled with powdered sugar. Second time I used a confectioner's sugar glaze. Despite what you might think, this cake is NOT overly sweet. You do not get an overly intense strawberry or chocolate flavor (that's what I thought at first, too). The chocolate flavor mainly dominates and it is average on sweetness. For me, the glaze is an added extra touch! The cake is delicious and moist. Guests love it!!

Office and Family Hit!

by E. EMILY , BOWLING GREEN, OH on Jul. 2005

I first baked this cake for a potluck at the office and it was a big hit! It was so successful I decided to bake it for my family and they loved it too. The cake is moist and tastey and very easy to make. I have made the cake several times. The flavor that goes in last or on top dominates. My family perfers the vanilla as the dominant flavor. So I layer that flavor last. You can't go wrong with this one!

Had fun making this
