Yummy Sweet Potatos in a Pie

by J. Jeanne , Huntertown, IN on Mar. 2009

I have wanted to try this pie for 2 years and finally got the courage to try it. My daughter just began to like sweet potatoes and my mother-in-law likes them too, so it was a 'go'. We were delighted with the results and the wonderful taste. I had expected a smoother texture like pumpkin but was not disappointed in the flavor. We have added this recipe to our best pie category

Just Like Mom's

by K. Kelli , Altamonte Springs, FL on Dec. 2008

Last year I was looking for a sweet potato pie recipe that was remotely close to what my mom used to make and BINGO, I found this one! It uses all of the same ingredients my mom uses and when I made it myself, I was well pleased. I found it last Thanksgiving 2007 and when I made the first two pies, I loved them so much that I ended up making two more. I will be making it again this Christmas 2008 only in mini pie versions. I can't wait to eat!

My mother bakes this pie every year and we all just love it. I have been trying to find it and when she told me she uses evaporated milk instead of condensed I knew where I could find it. I was using the condensed milk recipe and it made it too heavy this one is better and it is a keeper.

I've been eating sweet potato pies all my life, and I've baked one before, but it wasn't this good, this recipe is perfect. I would have never thought to put lemon juice in sweet potato pie, this recipe is great.
