Logan was a special teenager. He lived in Foster Care and had grown up in a family with troubles. He was what I call a lost boy. Children caught in the system and doomed to fail. But he loved baking cookies. He would come to our house and ask if he could bake chocolate chip cookies. Next thing you knew we had a few teenage boys showing up baking cookies of all kinds. These were the boys that were known for being in trouble, for having problems in school and at home. And yet for a few brief moments they were free of labels and free of troubles. They found something in my kitchen that they could not find elsewhere. These are memories in my heart forever. And Logan? Logan died. A drunk driver crashed into a car and killed him and some of his friends. I can never make chocolate chip cookies without his spirit beside me.

Growing up in not so great conditions myself, I know Logan and the other boys appreciated having a place to go where they could forget their troubles for awhile. You and your family must be special people to share your home with others. The world needs more people like you. May the memories of Logan bring you comfort.

Oh, such a sad and yet great memory for you. At least Logan is in a better place, now

Wow! Logan had a chance to shine even if in the kitchen. You helped him have a special moment and that is great.
