I remember sitting in the kitchen, watching my mom perfect her coconut cream pie with meringue on top. She used such care, as if holding an infant. She baked as if it were second nature. She made cooking look like an art. The smile on her face was priceless when she took that perfect pie out of the oven with lightly browned meringue on top. She taught me that baking is more than just putting food together, it's about creating a work of art with a heaping scoop of love.
