My father was the one who always got caught snitching the cookies.  Mom would bake giant cookies for the local deli and deliver them on Tuesday.  She would stay up late into the evening on monday night and bake so that the cookies were always fresh for delivery the next morning.  She would make 6 dozen monday night and by Tuesday morning she would always be short 4 to 6 cookies.  This went on for several weeks.  Finally mom decided to catch the cookie thief.  She made her cookies on a staurday telling the family that because she had a field trip on monday she wouldnt have time to bake on monday night. So she baked a batch of cookies and stored them away.  Around 1:30 am Sunday morning mom heard a snap, snap, snap,  Then a loud ouch!!!  She ran for the kitchen,  turned on the kitchen light there stood dad leaning up against the kitchen counter with one leg raised and a mouse trap attached to his foot!!  Mom laughed , " Serves you right now you will stay out of my cookies!"  From then on dad never took cookies again without asking!  mom also felt a little guilty and would sometimes double her batch just so daddy could have his own cookies!
